A nice crunch in this salad, bacon bits, sunflower seeds, diced broccoli, cauliflower, and onion are tossed with a yummy, slightly sweet and sour dressing and chilled.
This recipe is an awesome alternative to a red barbeque sauce for chicken. It was a neighborhood favorite during summer when I was growing up. Submitted in memory of Ruth Karahan who originally had the recipe and passed away in 2004.
Split breast chicken roasted with my favorite seasonings blend, taken out of the oven to rest. In its place, fresh broccoli spears and sliced garlic roasted until tender. Pure laziness, pure genius.
Raisins and vanilla are stirred into a thick and lovely custard made with egg yolks, butter, scalded milk and sugar. This lovely filling is then cooled slightly, poured into a baked pie shell and smothered with meringue. After a moment in the oven, this luscious pie is ready to be topped with whipped cream and a dusting of nutmeg.
Sweet red bell peppers are sauteed with garlic and spicy cayenne pepper, then simmered with sour cream and chicken broth to make a hot and luscious pasta sauce. Finish with Parmesan cheese and toss with cooked pasta.
Sauteed sweet peppers and kale are tossed with farfalle pasta and sprinkled with a generous amount of crumbled feta cheese. This recipe was inspired by a similar recipe I received in my produce box from Full Circle Farm in Carnation, WA.
Penne pasta tossed with asparagus, red peppers, pecans, and Parmesan cheese in a delicious sauce that is creamy without being over-powering. This has been a tremendous hit every time I've made it.
